I'm a drummer, a youth pastor and I also teach worship in our Bible school. Praise and worship is both a natural and spiritual activity. Praise can start as a performance but can be a prophetic act that can lead people into worship when God's presence and His revelation comes. The musicians' & singers' role is not to lead worship (as the true worship leader is the Holy Spirit) but to be the models and front liners in the different expressions in praise and worship as taught in the Bible.

@jihanskate - If anyone knows about humility it's Me Webber. I disagree that worship fails at that point though - it's more likely the time that a worthy role model can shine. Just because someone plays well does not mean that they aren't sacrificing some part of themself in worship.
This is no judgement on your comment, just support for the committed leader that Mike has always been.

this guy is a extremely talented drummer
but i hope he realizes worship fails when people notice the worship team rather than god.
god bless his hands and his feet so that he may lead more to experience God's presence
