This is Charlie's 4th time driving and we are taking a lesson at the Good Hands Training Center. Inspite of the fact that we were in an unfamiliar place, with strange horses, people and activities going on around him, Charlie remained calm and relaxed through out his lesson. A change of bits from a half cheek broken mouth driving snaffle to a half cheek mullen mouth driving snaffle improved his acceptance of the bit greatly. Tom, the instructor remarked several times that Charlie was "impressive," and said that he might be able to beat my driving horse in dressage already. Ok, so my driving horse is gaited so he can't perform a great dressage test, but that is still good praise! Subscribe to my channel to keep up with Charlie's training and adventures!

  • How is a zebras temperment compared to a donkey or horse?

  • @kalara75 They are intelligent like a donkey, they remember everything you teach them, good and bad, forever. They develop a very strong bond to their favorite buddy, whether it is a person, horse or other animal. With that strong bond, there are few limits on teaching. They are cautious around strangers until they get to know them.

  • Sammi Jo, I forgot to ask you how you go about his hooves. Are you planing to shoe him, or is he going to stay barefoot?

  • At the moment, I am leaving him barefoot. If I do a lot of driving or he has issues, I might look into different options. So far, his feet seem very strong and wear nicely. I might try boots, or I found some neat plastic shoes that are great for multi-surface, including in buildings and they hold up well on pavement.

  • I haven't actually measured him yet, he is very small still. I am hoping he will get a little bigger, since he is not yet 3, but I think he is going to stay short!

  • how did you get a zebra ?

  • Came accross this quite by accident. I have started learning to drive (horse and trap) recently and have taken on an unwanted 16yo ex trotter. We are both doing quite well and have reached the stage of pulling a tyre around and lots of ground driving. Your videos are quite exceptional and Charlie is just such a handsome fellow. Loved every second of all the episodes - thanks for sharing

  • will you use him for breeding later on? (as long as he's a stallion ofc) i mean, who wouldn't want a zorse? especially since he seems so friendly compared to many other zebras : )

  • 2 cool!!!!!!! never seen that before, but AWSOME!!!!!

  • Great video!! You put all those to shame who kept on insisting that zebras "can never be tamed." Keep up the good work!
