With the onset of perimenopause, a woman's estrogen and oxytocin levels begin to drop. These hormonal changes affect her brain function, emotions, and physical health (e.g., more memory lapses, increased irritability and joint pain). Some women elect hormone therapy. Others may seek alternative treatments, including physical exercise, acupuncture, meditation, and the use of nutritional supplements. This presentation is based on Dr. Louann Brizendine's book "The Female Brain."
