Sistas Episode 1.01

Well I decided to go ahead with a show that I've had on the back burner. I decided against doing Dark Shadows. I might do it later as a movie. As an African American, I have not created many shows featuring African Americans so that's my reason for doing it. As strange as it may sound, I really enjoy writing about other races or should I say creating characters of other races, I say that because I try to write characters that could be black, white, Asian, or whatever. I don't feel because I'm black I've got to write or create black characters. I'm not out to settle or score or be a voice for the people. I am mean and I don't want to be defined by the color of my skin or anything else. I only want to be defined by who I truly am as a person. I believe that the issues my characters face can be faced by people from any race. I write about the human experience and we as humans experience the same problems rather we are black, white, red, or blue. So I guess I'll get off of my soap box and tell you what the show is about. Sistas will focus around the lives and loves of three African American sisters. This show will be different from my other shows in the since that it is more of a light hearted drama than a soap opera like East Point and Salem. That's not to say there want be any intrigue because there will be. However, don't expect the dark drama of Salem or the soapy shenanigans of East Point. All though my characters in Sistas are black, you will find that they could be any color because the stories will focus on womanhood and sisterhood. April is the oldest sister and she's a successful art dealer. she's fighting to break out of the traditional role of women. She believes a woman should be able to sleep with as many men as as they choose to and not be considered a whore. Her quest to challenge that boys can only be boys will be quite interesting. She doesn't believe in relationships. Just sex, but watch and see what happens when she meets a man that will challenge her beliefs. Next we have May who is the second oldest. She's a housewife with three kids. Being a wife and a mother has been fulfilling for her in the past but now she wants more but will her desire to be more than just a wife and a mother threaten the foundation of her marriage to a man that wants a wife that doesn't work. Finally we have June, the youngest sister. June is an up and coming model with very conservative views about love, sex, and relationships. She's been dating tye for the last few years. Tye wants to get married but June is only interested in furthering her career as a model. See what happens when her climb to super model status becomes a wall that could separate her from the man that she loves.

I honestly am glad you dropped Dark Shadows and got this instead! It was funny since I was cracking up when the kid was like "I didn't know mommies and daddies wrestled so much."!!! LOL :D So cool and unique and super refreshing to see something with color!!!

I was SOOO freakin' excited to see this!!! I almost thought you completely gave up on this! I like that's it's more of a sitcom/drama than a serious show. Nice to take a break and Dark Shadows creeped me out anyway. Love this!! Especially cuz you didn't go over board with the whole black (beautiful) women thing, like really.

@ImaMakeUDropDeadNow Thank you! I hadn't planned to do it but I wanted another series. Each of my series are different and allow me tp spread my wings creatively in different genres. It was a toss up of a vampire series and a ligthhearted drama. I decided I didn't know enough about vampires to take the story anywhere.
