The warehouse control system (WCS) passes the wheel assembly ID to the balance machine, and a person is instructed what weight to put on it. There are multiple, configurable modes for balancing based on business rules. If any weights are applied to the assembly during the balancing process, the machine control sends the information back to the WCS to save with the order.

Project Summary: Astra Logistics was tasked to design and implement a facility that would provide tires and wheels Just in Sequence (JIS) to BMW to support the carmaker's production of the X3 SAV. The wheel assemblies are built to stock and ready to go when BMW places an order. The automated system was installed in a facility located in Greer, SC, in close proximity to BMW's assembly plant.
