@Inqliz well, U.S.A. stands for the United States of America which is pretty damn long.. so we typically say America to shorten it. Although Canada and Mexico are located in North America, the word America isn't in their countries names. I guess that's also why people from the U.S.A. are called Americans, people from Canada are called Canadians, and people from Mexico are called Mexicans. Ya got it now?

@AbsoluteMAL I understand what you're saying, and I think you are right, to some extent. But Canadians are also Americans, so are Mexicans, and Bolivians, and Colombians, and Peruvians etc etc. Any person who is native to the Americas is American. It is unfortunate for people from the USA that they do not have a specific or distinctive label that is mutually exclusive to over 20+ countries. And I hate it.

Also, if you went anywhere in the world and told people that you were American I'm pretty sure they would think that you were from the United States.
