not alot of trolleybuses had batteries powerful enough to drive the motors, reversing is normal whilst still on the wires. bournemouth 297 (not this one) is a joy to drive especially with its automatic acceleration. It got badly damaged a few years ago when it was towed under a low bridge but it has been restored again..... london 1201 is also lovely to drive.
Wow, I can't ever remember seeing a Bournemouth Trolley Bus reversing whilst still attached to the wires! I am sure they used internal batteries to reverse. The biggest snag to an open top trolley is the muck off the wires when it rains!
Love this footage....there is so little available of these spectacular buses...you have done a great job in capturing the sights and sound....my Fav of course is Bournemouth 202 open top....I have converted a model to represent it.. you may like to find it on you tube also!
