At the recent ECW commemoration weekend there were also running trolleybus services inside the museum grounds, this is my footage of those services.

  • @bhm1712 My memories of the Sunbeams in Bournemouth bear you out - the drivers always looked at ease with them, unlike the BUTs

  • not alot of trolleybuses had batteries powerful enough to drive the motors, reversing is normal whilst still on the wires. bournemouth 297 (not this one) is a joy to drive especially with its automatic acceleration. It got badly damaged a few years ago when it was towed under a low bridge but it has been restored again..... london 1201 is also lovely to drive.

  • Wow, I can't ever remember seeing a Bournemouth Trolley Bus reversing whilst still attached to the wires! I am sure they used internal batteries to reverse. The biggest snag to an open top trolley is the muck off the wires when it rains!

  • Well done! Some great footage!

  • Love this footage....there is so little available of these spectacular buses...you have done a great job in capturing the sights and sound....my Fav of course is Bournemouth 202 open top....I have converted a model to represent it.. you may like to find it on you tube also!
