The reality is that e-sourcing has been in the news for a number of years now. Many companies have adopted e-Sourcing strategies and some have purchased in-house solutions to meet their needs. The media today is filled with stories about all the money that these companies have saved. e-Sourcing is a category of techniques that focuses primarily on the quality and price of products used in the creation of a business's product. Since for many companies these direct materials make up a sizable chunk of their purchasing budget, it is in their best interest to implement some e-sourcing best practices. While e-sourcing can save money, there are other equally important benefits of this tool. Supplier and internal collaboration, process transparency and creating a level playing field for your suppliers, supplier evaluation tools, e-sourcing best practices implementation and speed to market are all additional benefits of a successful e-sourcing program. Will Scola has been exposed to and applied the e-sourcing toolkit throughout his professional career at GE, The Home Depot and PETCO Animal Supplies. This session will cover not just the tool but also the learnings (good and bad) he has gained from these companies.
