My February '09 MacBook Unibody 2.4 slipped from my bed and fell to the carpeted floor. It was only a 50 cm (20") drop, and now the hinge seems loosy as it can't hold the screen to the case when it's not in a perfect horizontal position. There is no visible damage to the hinge or the case structure.
Anyway, it's not that big of a deal, it's just a bit infuriating for such a beautiful machine not to work properly, but I know I can only blame myself.

  • @XDAMM : Thank you for the fix it website! Hoping I can repair my MacBook Pro. Having the same problem and it was never dropped.

  • No, you shouldn't blame yourself. Equipment is designed to resist shocks and slight falls. For $2,000.00 our MacBook Pro's have quite a bit lacking in the hardware body design. I'm disappointed in Apple. The hinge problem is consistent regardless of falling or not.

  • Man, dw my old macbook unibody does that and i never ever ever dropped it.

  • This is normal on a brand new macbook because if the magnets were too strong they would affect the screen.

  • na yo its your magnet.... every mbp has a magnet by the camera so when u dropped it it might of moved sooo yea

  • HE SAID HE DROPPED IT, SO ITS HE'S FAULT

  • typical lousy over-priced apple products.

  • mine does thaaat :(

  • This happens to my macbook too. I think it's caused by the display becoming slightly warped from regular use. if you close your macbook by squeezing at the base of the hinge (right where it meets the keyboard) on the outside, it will close completely. You might have to squeeze a little more than you might expect, but the difference in how well the notebook stays shut is surprising. It's almost like brand new!

  • @teebeaubobo its normal if you havent noticed the screen is held down by magnets in the screen the magnets can't be super strong because they may effect components inside of the computer THIS IS NORMAL
