This is not a documentary, it's a propaganda film. Everyone of their experts is pushing the same ideological agenda, and they use nothing to prove their statements, just assumptions, no facts.
It's an ideological film, but which documentary isn't? The people in the film would disagree with each other on these topics if they were put face to face, so I would hardly call it propaganda. It is a presentation of their views, not a scientific study.
So, what do tell my 7 year daughter to do with her life? Water levels are rising on south pacific islands. Capitalism is headless or mindless, can we continue to tolerate this? I hear people talking about open season on rich people. Does it mean hunting and shooting them? I don't understand.
dont take it too seriously. lovelock is the one here who speaks the most sense here, because he's a realist and admits that natural selection in a very raw form will show through, as it has been doing for a very long time. life IS an adventure and, as MMM says below, a lot of this is just speaking the truth.
I think the Hypothesis is crazy, but its not really relevant to what he says in this film. Here he's basically saying 'live long and prosper and don't fret too much about the future'. Sure, that may have some Gaian subtext (a la, 'the planet WILL sort itself out) but it still is better than the alarmist attitudes of the others.
the alarmist attitude, in my humble opinion, is far more appropriate. when one takes a indepth look into the state of our society/economy, on a global level, any other view is either naivity or unrealism.
