How to capture lightening and harvest for domestic use so as to combat ENERGY CRISIS. This video is just a brief idea of how it may be done. The entire theme and research work (including details and tackling with problems that may encounter) are kept safe with the owner of this video himself.
Video produced by the students of Army Institute of Technology for the event "Innovation Cup" under a series of college's inter branch technical competitions "Tech-Akriti 2009-10" from the branch of Computers.

  • Never going to work. Lightning is too powerful.

  • @TheTantanski Possible at small scale spark. Right?? Then why not on large scale

lightning?? May be what we proposed, is not the correct idea. But

something similar can be.. Be optimistic buddy :) Cheers

A suggestion: watch the movie "Prestige".

  • @nitingrewal There's actually not that much electricity in a lightning bolt. One bolt could power a typical home for almost a month. That's it.

If you don't believe me, google "Harnessing Lightning and Using the Electricity" and read the page by weatherimagery(dot)com.

Now, if you were to lift by balloon a large vertical axis windmill into the upper atmosphere where the wind never stops blowing, you would be able to harvest a lot more energy.

  • I always wondered how to stop the capacitors from blowing up.

What if you had 2 coils ,buried underground .One connected to your lightning rod and the second close to the first coil to capture "some" of the power and sending it to your capacitor, while letting "most" of the power go to ground.Would that work?

  • @nitingrewal Optimistic? The soviets were optimistic, and they failed miserably. You cant channel some of the energy into the capacitors, they will blow right away. Man cant create such capacitance.
