After a morning blockading the front and rear of Westminster Council's City Hall in protest over parking fees for motorcycles, the No To Bike Parking Tax group return in the evening to the tried and tested Trafalgar Square. Despite holding traffic back off the roundabout, the Police and TFL still couldn't stop the congestion approaching this busy junction. The message is clear. Bikes cut congestion. Discourage motorcycles and the city will grind to a halt. Video shot with a Vholdr ContourHD 720 video camera, mounted to the helmet and handlebars. http://notobikeparkingtax.com http://brokenhelix.co.uk/no-to-bike-parking-charges/

  • @SICKOFSOFTIES they caught me and gave me three points.. I dont declare it to my insurers though because its so UNJUST. I had a unbaffled exhaust which wasn't even as loud as the chopper next to me at the time.. UFF :(

  • £1 a day is aprox. 30 a month and 365 a year.

  • @krskipp who decides whether it is 'right' to 'block up central london' or not? you? the govt? wcc? who knows... it is 'a' right to be able to protest though. A human right at that. Also a very good way of illustrating what will happen if these charges spread and rise (as car parking has) to the point where motorcyclists are less likely to bother using transport which reduces congestion - thereby reducing the daily and routine blocking up of central london by cars, lorries, vans and taxi's.

  • @shaman75 That's right you don't cause congestion. Which is why you don't pay the CONGESTION charge. You also get to use the majority of bus lanes. You also get to park all day for one pound. Or all week for £3.50. Sound like a good deal to most people. So the phone system isn't ideal and you don't like it. It doesn't mean you're right to block up Central London every day. It's very unlikely to achieve anything anyway since WCC or whoever don't want to give future protesters the wrong idea.

  • @matthyewclarke99 don't be ridiculous. It's not about £1 a day. It's about the principle of whether motorbikes should be charged for parking when they reduce congestion and it's about the pay by phone system you have to be registered to. This started off as a trial and the council chose to ignore thousands of objections. Now bikers have to resort to objecting on the street, by demonstrating what our city will look like without motorbikes. They are trying to prevent future gridlock.

  • Just to let everyone know, Westminster Council have instructed their little team of bully boys, i.e. the Traffic Police to try and nick as many bikers as they can for minor things such as, small number plates, loud exhausts, defective indicators and lights, unstrapped helmets and worn tyres.

If approached by any of these scumbags and they try and pull any of these bollocks charges on you.... tel them to FUCK OFF! ... I DID!

  • @matthyewclarke99 No... it's clearly WCC, we din;t protest until they introduced it.

  • @roguebikerprotester Actually, no, its not WCC, is you people. Thanks for wasting so many peoples time over £1 a day.

  • bloody brilliant power to the people

  • Westminster council is the cause of all this chaos. Scrap the bike parking tax, bikers will not be pushed around.
