8-3-09 3-alarm Apartment Fire

On 8/3 at 0820 hrs TFR units responded to a fire reported at Watermans Crossing Apartments, 4515 N Rome Avenue. As fire crews were responding they could see smoke and flames rising up from the three story apartment building. Fire crews worked quickly to assure all the residents were out of the apartments and they also had to stop the flames from jumping to a nearby building. It took fire crews about 45 minutes to knock down the flames and a couple hours to mop up all the hot spots. No injuries resulted directly from the fire. One adult male resident was evaluated on scene and transported to a local hospital for undisclosed medical problems.

The fire cause is under investigation by the Tampa Fire Marshals Office, State Fire Marshals Office and Tampa Police. The fire cause is under investigation.
