Note: I made this when I thought it was cool to call a cover i figured out by ear a CbE (Cover by Ear). lol. Live and learn.

This is my first venture into songwriting, even though its not entirely an original. I thought of doing a version of this song from Samsons perspective one morning. And while I was in the shower, the third line came to me: what all the people say belies the truth. Not only was it consistent with the original beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth, but it fit the rhyme scheme perfectly (ee in people and sheets, ay in say and paper, I in belies and lies, and truth.) I knew I would never be able to look at myself in the mirror again if I didnt act upon this epiphany. But I did, and am now content. Enjoy!

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
What all the people say belies the truth
What do they know, what do they know
Your eyes were calm when we first met

Delilah rose out of bed
Put her lips beside my head
I have to go thats all she said
And just like that she fled

And the history books forgot about us and the bible didn't mention us
And the bible didn't mention us, not even once

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Behind the bars Im longing for your bed
To be with you tonight, with you tonight
Your eyes were calm when we first met

I remember coming to your bed
With no sweet nothings in my head
I just told you that youre beautiful and came into your bed
And you cut my hair yourself that night
You looked at me with pure delight
And I told you that you'd done alright
And kissed you 'til the mornin' light, the mornin' light
And I kissed you 'til the mornin' light

Delilah rose out of bed
Put her lips beside my head
I have to go thats all she said
And just like that she fled
Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down
Yeah we couldn't destroy a single one
And history books forgot about us
And the bible didn't mention us, not even once

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first
