If you thought Charlie Sheen was overpaid, meet the world's most expensive dog. The 11-month-old red Tibetan Mastiff named Big Splash, or Hong Dong in China, was purchased by a coal baron in northern China for $1.5 million.

News of the purchase is trending as Big Splash supplants another Tibetan Mastiff named Yangzte River Number Two, purchased for $500,000 in 2009. The ancient breed from central Asia has recently become a status symbol, like sports cars and rare jewelry, among the Chinese elite. The dog's breeder says he can now pay his staff for raising what he calls "the perfect specimen."

  • Rich people don't have any real use for these dogs. They don't deserve them. These are rural dogs, they belong on the ranch or the farm where their hair can get matted in the breeze. Not in some mansion!

  • fuck these rich peaple the most they deserve is a dam chiwawa

  • These dogs are amazing and they are the most beautiful dogs you would ever see in person because I have one of the dogs from these people and I dont regret spending the money I paid for him. He is very smart and is an AMAZING watch dog and I think these dogs should be on a farm but also with a loving family because they are very intelligent and loves people and kids but can tell when they are mean or bad.

  • You call it buying an expensive dog...I call it money laundering. Whatever.

  • @bobo87244 u suck

  • wont pay $3 for it

  • @RobbytheLion you mean they belong in Tibet? high altitude colder climate

  • @RobbytheLion hair matting can be bad for these dogs it cuts off circulation. plenty of dogs are well taken care of in smaller spaces and couldnt be happier. i think the real problem is that there is no way this dog is gonna get the attention it would from an owner that would actualy love it. not just use it as a status symbol...

  • And I paid 1000 dollars for my tibetan mastiff, black and tan. And he is as good as this one.

  • @NiCk30493 true.

  • @MP7A3 i know right
