A (Humorous) Tribute to OVER THE TOP

The cult film that made turning your hat backwards cool. This is just a stupid little video I did combining all the ridiculous moments.

Some people asked what I really thought of the movie which would be worth telling: It's entertaining, but absurd. It's got heart, but its way overacted by everyone except for Stallone (Hawk). In fact, he underacts, a trait he's good at, except for his facial expressions and groans while arm wrestling. So the combination throws it off balance. You have this drama of a father and son. The fathers' trying to fix the mistakes he's made in life and win his son over, both in legal custody and spirit. But then you have all this madness going on, people drinking motor oil and slapping theirselves in the face. (the slap sounds and fart noises I added, yes, because their facial expressions look like they're trying to force out a turd.) The situations are illogical. The scene where Hawk smashes the guy through the window and then casually makes his way back to the tournament would have been impossible without having the cops on his ass. there's also a scene early on where he forces his son to arm wrestle some bigger kids. He gives him some motivational speech about not giving up, but really what is he trying to prove by instigating such an incident? The music is hit or miss. Sometimes it's weak, but the stand-out is "Winner takes it all" by Sammy Hagar. Good stuff. Overall, it's a meat-headed cult film that'll guarantee some laughs, but you'll also feel for his character a bit too.
