Maximizing NAND flash performance benefits in servers takes more than simply replacing a hard drive with a flash SSD. Fusion-io co-founder and CTO David Flynn describes how flash can most improve system performance.

  • Thanks! There is a lot of cool technology in the ioDrive. I hope to get to more of it in later videos.

  • I have a tip for both teamchongo here, and StorageMojo:

They will be launching a version of the ioDrive for consumers in Q1 09', called ioXtreme. From what i've been able to aquire of information it will be 80GB, below $1000 in price, and have almost as good performance as the ioDrive.

  • Great article. I loved how simple David Flynn was able to explain it too. It could have mentioned a bit about the cluster technology they have put into the ioDrive though.

  • is there any posibility to use a procesor as a hardrive i think some military equipmets got that kind of tech in the us military or nasa, 20 years ago until now procesors are 2 milion times faster and hardrives are only 12 times faster do you think there is a posibility of getting procesors as a hardrive until holographic tecnology or laser take over ??

  • I was making some research about Fusion-io SSD's ,good article , very cool actually , i´m saving money for one of those :) , super expensive right now , nice work !
