  • hahaha I love this guy!

  • I've been playing guitar for a bit and looking to start playing mandolin. From there I'll go whichever direction of whichever stringed instrument family (tuning-wise).

Great video, the guy is great indeed!

  • Hahaha! Shut that thing off!

  • Mike...you're so funny! God bless ya!

  • ....... Because of that blasted B string. AMEN BRO!!

  • I agree -- the mandolin is the most user friendly bluegrass instrument, being tuned with even intervals all the way, all the patterns are movable. a real treat if you're used to guitar or banjo. Also, and you'll probably think I'm nuts, but sometimes it's like playing the bottom four strings of the guitar while looking in a mirror.

  • I find that after having played the guitar for 40+ years, it was an easy transition to the mandolin. In fact, I find the mandolin to be easier to pick melodies on due to being tuned in 5th's. Excellent advice here!

  • I went guitar > mandolin, and that's working out fine

  • I know, man. He's great.
