July is pretty much archaeology month in Kythira, with dozens of people volunteering to help excavate.

Supervision will be provided by trained archaeologists.

  • Cool. I hope to be visiting this summer with a few teenagers from Lusher High School, New Orleans, LA, USA. Kythira has sooo much to offer, I love the wild herbs and fruit that grow all over the place. They are going to LOVE the moto scooters and those fabulous beaches! Our Aunt Anne majored in archaeology, I hope she will be with us. Ancient ruins everywhere you look in Kythira!!! I love it there.

Hi Juliette, when will you be in Kythera? We'll be digging at Paliokastro for most of July. Bring everyone along for a tour if you're there at the time. My email address is john.fardoulis at gmail.com of you want to touch base. John

  • Great Job!!!! I'm an archaeologist too, but never worked in Kythera. Which sites you'll be working this summer?

  • @toy2day

Hi, the team I'm helping will be digging the buried Laconian citadel at Paliokastro. Other teams will be digging two peak sanctuaries at the same time in July. My email address is john.fardoulis (at) gmail.com if you want to touch base. John

  • Saw the presentation at the Molo in Agia Pelagia in Jul (or was it Aug).. Fascinating stuff. Great work, and may we all come to see the great work your team(s) next year <3

  • I've visited the Minoan peak sanctuary, not much left but you can feel the place... Reminds me of Juktas in Crete!!
