How To Pet and Hug Brown In Rule Of Rose

Summary of the method: Use the "O" button to call Brown and use the "O" button to attempt to pet Brown. Always call Brown to Jennifer in order to make the computer align Jennifer and Brown. Don't bother trying to align Jennifer and Brown manually by moving Jennifer to Brown. If the petting behavior doesn't occur after two or three presses of "O" in a particular alignment of Jennifer and Brown, move to another position, create another alignment by calling Brown, and try again.

The last 45 seconds of this video (in which I gave the above summary, and also pet Brown one more time) got lost during upload/processing, which is why the video ends oddly.

Does the game actually tell you that you can pet Brown? I never noticed if it did in the game or the manual. :O

The Rule of Rose manual says:

O button --> Pet/Hug

Press the O button when Jennifer is near Brown for her to pet and hug him. This command can also be issued from the attack position.

Thank you very much for this video! I managed to hug Brown once and then could never do it again. I figured it had something to do with how you both were positioned but I could not get it.

If you don't mind me asking, does hugging Brown do anything except make me feel all warm and fuzzy for poor Jennifer? In Haunting Ground, praise served a purpose, but in Rule of Rose it just seems to be cute. Don't get me wrong, I love cute things and I'm glad you can do more than command Brown. =]
