www.battlefieldtours.se - During the last days of the Battle of the Bulge, Kampfgruppe Peiper and SS-Obersturmführer Dollinger abondoned this Königstiger near La Gleize. It was part of the 501st Heavy SS Panzer Battallion. It was burned out and the barrel destroyed at the time but has since then been renovated by the museum. This short clip in Swedish with English "subtitles" is recorded in La Gleize, Belgium in May 2007.

  • @MrJtr1888 Yes, it is the same guy allright. Use this link to download the American official documents from the trial from our website "battlefieldtours.se" - Look in the section called: "Honsfeld". It is a 65mb file.

  • The construction was simple without precision almost like lego? wtf?

It was an expensive tank, and the gun was still the same quality as on the Tiger I.

If you want a simple tank go see a t-34 ;-)

  • Thanks "macdicken", you are right. Thanks for clarifying. Yes, it was an expensive tank but at that time of the war the German war industry had aquired a lot of experience. They knew that one of the succes factors had to be simplicity. The Russians excelled in this area. That was the reason the Königstiger was designed with those blocks with "teeth" on them. Simple welding as the next step and then you had that strong yet simple design. We are sorry we did not translate it all. Good comments!

  • @MrSpy3000 and also very few where fully destroyed by their own crew... with its weight it also had a HUGE disadventage for the muddy fields and forests in belgium...This tank had a armor from 25 to 180 mm thick, that made this tank almost impossible to penetrate for the allies... it had a 88mm KwK 43 L/71 canon, that was feared by every single soldier fighting the germans... the fact that destroyed the Nazis was the low amount of tanks and vehicles vs the HUGE allied amount of tanks and vehicles.

  • @MrSpy3000 thats where you are wrong... K/T(KingTiger) was VERY rarely taken out by allies... there was a few... But the K/T was a complicated, yet a simple designed tank, and had ALOT af malfunvctions in the beginning... with jamming turrets, engine malfunctioning or electrical malfunctions... when this happened near by allied forces with middleclass AP guns,K/T crew got scared and abandoned the tank... But few where destroyed by allies, and also few K/T's were captured by the allies...

  • this wasnt the most feard tank of ww2, the tiger 1 was this is tiger 2, and do you know why it was hard for the allied to broke down this tank? cus the crew did it by them self!!!!

  • Why does nobody take care for this masterpiece....

restore that unique monster instead of let rusting it away...not many Tiger 2 left

  • @Jintastic888 unfortunately those tanks were not deployed in ww2

  • jag taler inte bra svenska...but I was able to understand the english titles :)))

    ok, nice video !

  • very very impressive; thanks for posting!

  • Imagine if these were around and the TIGER 1 prior to Barbarossa, the Germans would've been celebrating in Moscow in due time. there just weren't enough to replace their armor losses in contrast to the Red army.

  • That fucker is a monster. it's scary

  • @4shacks1house Yea, i was there myself and i red that they used the front part of the panther barrel because the KT barrel was too damaged to put back on ;)

But its cool to see a KT with the bazooka hits still in the armor :P
