Gourd Flute (Chinese Traditional Instrument)

This is one of the practice for end-year performance. Unperfect version. The songs they play are all traditional chinese songs. Although there are a few mistakes,the sound of gourd flute is still very pretty. Enjoy~~

wow! cool, really nice tone to it, especially the higher notes, does it need some special embouchure to play? like the trumpet perhaps?

It is. The hulusi consists of three bamboo pipes. Embedded inside the end of each pipe is a triangular copper reed that vibrates when you blow into the instument. These are then stuck inside the gourd. The gourd serves as a wind chest, enabling you to play all three pipes at one time.
