  • It took me a loooong time to really get this track. I used to just turn the album off after bloodbirds a lot. Then one day I decided to crank up the volume, put the bass way up, and really study it. Holy balls.

  • What is up with people always linking Opeth and Agalloch. They're not THAT similar, other than atmosphere.

    Anyway, I really loved this album. Mantle was their weakest, imo. I personally love Pale Folklore when I'm in a more folk oriented mood, and this album when I'm feeling more post-rock/progressive.

  • It brings tears to my eyes for some reason. Such a creepy, but yet amazing piece.

  • @n4r9 Ulver was a great genre-crossover band post-2000s, but Opeth did it much better imo. Akerfeldt has a way of stringing notes better imo. :D But you're free to be entitled to your own opinion.

  • Holy shit people, enough with the Opeth?

    Opeth are a Dark-Ambient, Prog Metal Oriented band. Their style includes a mixture of Scandinavia and Dark Elements. They are ambient in the dark realm.

    Agalloch is more of a hybrid of Post-Rock, Folk, and Black Metal. They have a Spiritual, Panthiestic Vibe, but they're more about the solace of nature in a grand scheme. Having that said, the two can't be put in comparison at all!

    However, both bands are AMAZING! Those who say otherwise are ignorant.

  • Sounds like an earthquake. In hell.

  • The main thing that people always seem to bring up about Opeth and Agalloch is the use of clean/heavy sections but there is a HUGE difference in the way the bands pull them off. In Opeth's compositions, especially on the earlier albums, the two are interchangeable, thrown together, distinctly apart from one another. They are not essential to each other. Agalloch's are masterfully woven together to create majestic soundscapes unrivaled by anything else in modern music.

    Agalloch = streets ahead.

  • This really makes me think of Tool.

  • I'm afraid I've listened to Opeth but I can't find any similiarities at all. Opeth seem to be more...well they don't seem to give the same spiritual depth that Agalloch gives me.

  • Parts of this sound very much like HAWKWIND's 1973 Space Ritual album.

  • @n4r9 If that's true, then in my opinion Opeth can suck it!
