  • Truly excellent routine - a little more flowing and a little less "snappy" than some of Simon's. I'm modern jiving this evening, so I will be freeze-framing this clip like crazy before setting out.

  • Talking of freezing frames, are the pumpkins wrapped up well on your allotment ?

Also Cz., keep yourself well wrapped up these cold nights. Nick & I would not want to loose out number one critic.

Nick incidentally is in a small castle in Romania this week, recharging himself for the Spring dancing season.

He sends you his regards in the postcard which arrived today.

  • Why does everyone keep telling me to wrap up? Now that Nick's out of the way, do you think Sandra would reconsider my offer of a weekend for the two of us at my little beach hut in Huddersfield?

  • Isnt Huddersfield too upmarket for you Cz? Its full of posh Northerners with pretentions like me... That is really my own home town !

Better for you would be Kettering which has a beach in the town centre. Much more like Margate with its whelk stalls & cider drinkers.

  • Are we watching the same video!! That is Modern Jive as MJ should be danced. The tension and compression hes using is right MJ is a dance where two complete strangers can dance together. The timing is spot on for that music - neither dancer is using extra beats to add style, the lady is not just doing her own thing and calling it musicality. This looks like freestyle dancing not a practiced routine used as a dance demo or for competition or worse looks more like WCS or acrobatics.

  • Interesting comments on the music. I'm a non-dancer who has toyed with the idea (of giving it a try) and jive conjours up images of GI's in uniform, Teds and dynamic action all the other styles are a bit too effeminate for me. This music seems entirely inappropriate, resulting in an insipid, energy lacking stroll.

  • 10 out of 10 for lack of musicality. Lots of good technique. The music might as well not have been there.

  • Not too keen on his syle , its very wooden for someone who teaches.

  • That Song is awful. Def Lily he is dancing with as she would be one of the only follows able to make that lead look anything other than awful. I would have hated to be the follow for that dance. Would have worried my limbs would be ripped off. Didn't Simon do a musicality class? Why does he not do what he teaches?

  • Make sure you wrap up well Cz. in this freezing cold weather. Nick & I would hate to loose our number one critic.

I got a Postcard from our Nick today from an obscure part of Romania. He says he is recharging ready for the new JiveNation spring season.

Is this your first outing of 2008 Cz. ?

  • Looking again at this, Simon's right to applaud the girl at the end of the routine, as she almost leads him and causes him to adapt from his usual jerky, militaristic style to something altogether more artistic and expressive. Well done to both of them. A peach of a clip.
