@nathanhyatt1980 If you read his biography on his website you will see he was born in KY not OH and I have heard from his own lips that he was born in Cordell Kentucky.

No he is not.... this man is Ricky Skaggs from OHIO! Mother Dorothy Thompson Skaggs and Father Hobert Skaggs who moved to Blane Ky when Ricky was a young boy! Sister Lynda Skaggs Furgison, Garrold Skaggs......Dorothy and my Great grandfather Estil Thompson were brother and sister..... This is my family. and yes this song was written by Ricky and George Green.

according to two different internet pages the song was written by Ricky Skaggs and George M. Green. But I can't find any information on who of them actually wrote the lyrics or if the wrote it together
