A new laser-driven technique developed at NPL to allow remote and rapid mapping of sound fields. Particularly useful for looking at speaker directivity characteristics. Measurements made at a distance of 3m from speaker.

Nice. If you want to pick only the vibrations from the air, how do you isolate the effect of the vibrations on the reflective surface?

@dtmmmtd Good question.. The retro-reflective board needs to be far enough away from the speaker, in this case approximately 4 m, to ensure that any induced vibrations, and the resulting effect on the phase of the light, are insignificant in comparison to that caused by the acousto optic effect.
