Thorens TD124 MKI, Sedco or Syntec Arm, Shure SC35C Cartridge, Aikido Phono Preamp. My first attempt at a simple IMovie using a vinyl source played through a high quality preamp. The Shure cartridge is not high-end but is superb for extracting high quality stereo sound from less than perfect vinyl. One million club DJs cannot be wrong.

  • Which Aikido preamp is it as he know has 2 types?

I have a Thorens TD124 MK2 with a sansui arm that I have brought out into the light after being in my wardrobe for 20 years. I am looking for a SME arm for it and was thinking I would build an Aikido preamp

After hearing yours I am building one!

  • @425i Sorry, I do not understand the question. I just checked the tubecad website and it looks like there is only one Aikido phono-stage amplifier printed-circuit design. Mine is built using 5965 tubes. Please let me know what you mean by "2 types" because I would build another. I have also hand-built an earlier version of the aikido using 5670 and 5755 tubes.

  • @mtvernonmills

The other phono preamp John Broskie has designed is actually called Tetra

I just have a habit of thinking of Johns designs as being Aikido's

I noticed on his Blog that he has been trying the Tetra with a touch of positive feedback which sound's interesting

  • @425i Ahhh, yes. Tetra. I looked at it and decided it is a much simpler and maybe better design than the full-blown Aikido. My Aikido is completely unregulated and I kind of like that, for no good reason, really; I just like it. But 8 tubes in a stereo phono stage is way too many. Maybe I will try to build a tetra without all the solid state devices. Best wishes ~

  • What? Why the fade out? Play the whole song! Encore, encore!

  • @Vladislaw81 Thank you. No speakers used - sound is taken directly from my preamp to my mac. The SC35c is a wonderful cartridge for playing old vinyl.

  • Great, very opened sound. What is speakers were used here?

The tubes sounds better even through compressed format via Internet.

  • TOP Video mit Super Sound !!!!

Entlich einen TD124 der vas anders spielen darf als immer diese Jazz und Classic
