Hi Everyone,

I have been reading "Grow It!" by Chicoro, it is a book on growing and maintaining afro textured hair. In this video I demonstrate how I shampoo, condition and detangle my 4C (maybe 4D if that category existed LOL) hair using Chicoro's methods.

I switch up what products I use every now and then cause I am still learning what my hair likes and what it doesn't. So please don't run out and purchase everything I used :-) I don't know if this will stick because as I said before I am still learning my hair and trying to figure out the right routine for me.

My objective for doing this video was to show a little variety in afro textured hair. I have very tight coily textured hair and a lot of the videos featured on YouTube are of women with looser curl patterns and there is nothing wrong with that. I chose to put this up cause I know it can be frustrating when you can't find a video featuring a woman with a tighter hair texture that resembles yours.

So I hope this helps shape your personal routine... Enjoy :0)

  • As a 4c natural, how long was your hair when you started shampooing your hair while its twisted/braided? Do you recommend keeping 4c hair braided or twisted when shampooing?

  • @IamPeaceIamLove I pretty much started doing this in August 2010 which is when I shot this video, so that's where my hair was then. I definitely recommend keeping it braided or twisted, my hair becomes a mess if I don't do that. Hope that answers your question :-)

  • Ok.. I've being viewing your videos for almost two hrs..lol. I love them all and will be coming back for more :-) thank you for showing "a little variety" like you said, my hair texture is right up there with yours- and finding that [similarity] makes things soooo much easier!!

  • @doodlesnsmiles101 Glad to be of assistance... I will definitely start putting up more hair videos soon cause I've changed my shampoo routine, look out for it. Thanks for watching the Vids!!!! Merciiiiiii!!!!! :0)

  • Why did you have the braids in your hair wen you washed it?

  • @TiaraIsMee Hey, like @Lifeisagift1990 said, I do that to prevent excessive tangling, I find it much easier to shampoo your hair in either braids or twist! Hope that helps you in some way :0)
