I restored this recording from an un-usable quarter-track, super-slow-speed reel recording from family tapes. It took me a hell of a lot of work to rescue this back to listenable condition. I should also add that ALL of my off-air 1960's TV and radio audio recordings from these tapes went through the same complicated, mind-bending series of re-recordings as this one, and it took YEARS to complete.

That old buzzy A.M. sound, yes I remember it (gee, I am feeling kinda old admitting that!) and I think that AT&T DID have a strike during the convention, didn't they? Thanks for posting, for several reasons, this is a Smithsonian-worthy video.

I was at the rally. I remember people going around collecting money in any kind of container they could find. We were all trusting enough to toss cash in them, believing, in the idealistic fervor of the time, that the money would actually get to the candidate.

Wow, this is amazing. Great job on the restoration. The ads don't feels as "60s" as I thought it would.
