This is the station that was used to represent exterior shots of LACoFD Station 51 in the 1970s TV show Emergency! The interior of the station is nearly identical to how it was in the TV show, right down to the wooden cabinets in the changing room. I made a pilgrimage to L.A. during Labor Day weekend 2010 to see and pay homage to this station. The on-duty fire fighters were great -- they answered all my questions, and let me spend as long as I wanted in the station.

  • Anywher eI can get ahold of the current tones+ While I don't like them as much as the new ones, I'd still like to know what stations have which tones.

  • @THEFINALHAZARD Hi and thanks for the question. This site has the current tones: lacountyfire

  • If you like the old tone-out "tones" of the old "Emergency", there is a website called Los County Fire.com (the UNOFFICIAL site of the LACFD), go to the site, browse the left column for "Dispatch Tones," and let your ears feast on the musical tones that once summoned the professional personnel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Sorry, there is no "Station 51" in the list. Just thought you'd like to know.

  • @TITANICBM Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.

  • @TITANICBM The tones for station 51 was the 2+2 tones for station 60

  • @TITANICBM Yeah, '51' is a relatively new station at Universal. The tones for 'Station 51' was Station 50, and the tones for 'Squad 51', the alternate set, was LA Station 22.

  • @MsAutobodyman Thanks for the question. Yes, to the south of the station is a large BP refinery (it was originally owned by Arco). One could see it on shots of E51 and S51 leaving the station.

  • @billthecat666 Yes, there's no pole in the station ... it's a single story station

  • @ColinFWheeler

Is it true that this actual firestation has no pole?

It's amazing that this show is essentially Dragnet for fire fighters.

The DeSoto actor appears with Johnny Depp in Gilbert Grape.
