This is a great video and Marty Robbins is an amazing talent. If anyone has a problem with the Texas Rangers feel free to throw your two cents my way. If people would visit the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco they might get an education into the history and bravery of these men of all races who went up against amazing odds to make Texas a safe Country and later a state in the United States.

Yes sparks195 There will never be another Marty Robbins. There is not one of his songs I do not love. - Today what they call music does nothing but hurt my ears, and does not tell a true story about anything at all. We a re all the worse off without Marty Robbins. My Daddy had his favorite Marty Robbins song it was ( Big Iron ), unless I am mistaken it was about a Texas Ranger also.

@starfish50 Can't say that I do remember Angel... What was the name of the Texas Ranger, we should remember HIS name? Texas has produced some real Heros, like Ron Paul, which the Corp controlled Media put down instead of applaud.

@kevinkzac The Pride and the Badge part is true, but in BIg Iron, the Arizona Ranger was in search of an outlaw who was known as Texas Red.

I live in a small town in Oklahoma, and WOW, those Texas Rangers deserve all of the recognization they get. in 1909 a ( gun for hire ) named Dan Scribner shot and murdured local policeman Zeke Putnam. It was a TEXAS RANGER who found and arrested Dan Scribner and brought him to Justice, --- hats off to you TEXAS RANGERS.

Big Iron was about an Arizona Ranger who came to Texas to look for El Paso Red. Interestingly enough, El Paso Red was a character in another Robbins song called Pride and the Badge.
My Name sake, William J. wagener 1839-1878 was Door County , Wis. Sheriff and died from gangrene after being shot 3 years into his 1st term.

@williamjwagener Do you remember Angel Remirise AKA the rail road killer from Mexico. It was NOT the CIA or the FBI who got him it was a TEXAS RANGER. They deserve our respect.

@williamjwagener oh my. He died in the line of duty just as my son, who loved this song. Just today I received from the Army my departed son's medel.- I do not remember the Texas rangers name who brought Angel Remiris? ( pardon my poor spelling ) in,. I know living next to the rail road tracks in Ft. Worth, It was such a huge releaf when he was brought in. I pray that Americans do vote in Ron Paul, he is the only hope this nation has.

@11Formation Hi Toney. Thank you for visiting my video. Here in the US you call women like me who ride train horses ect TOM BOYS, isn't there a term for it there too. ( Jillaroos or Shelas ) ? I don't drink alchol, but I do like ROOT BEER. It would ba a pleasure to meet you.I almost can not hear this song without crying. Just before he died my son sent me this song, and said he loved it.The part he wanted me to pay attention to was that the OLD RANGER was BLIND.

Those Texas Rangers get the job done. In 1909, some cut throt grop of horrable murderous gang, came to Oklahoma, from Texas, and murdered a rancher here. As soon as the word got around, it was a TEXAS RANGER who brought them in. I don't think people actually realize they were the FIRST, and BEST law inforcement the US had, and still has.
