  • Thank you for posting the information that Moiseiwitsch had recorded this after discussing the work with Medtner himself. The only other recorded performance of this I've heard is by Emil Gilels. I hear Horowitz had programmed this piece in the late 1940s, but that the critics largely panned the music. It is sad indeed that Medtner's work should have had to wait for so long before gaining more widespread recognition. Imagine if Horowitz and Moiseiwitsch had recorded many more of these sonatas!
