Given how creased that card is to start with, I do find myself wondering if it's one you've practised on, and the 'trick' is that the card is simply folded very thinly in quarters while doubles are used to act as the ripped cards. By no means do I claim I know how it's done, but if you were to use a new card it might come off a bit better.
