This impressionistic Pastorale, written in 1909, is described as a passacaglia. Roger-Ducasse was a good friend of Fauré, whom he succeeded as professor of composition at the Paris Conservatoire. Lawrence Young is Dean of the Northern Virginia chapter of the American Guild of Organists, & serves as organist at a DC suburban church.
The organ, a 1965 Moller renovated in 2003, is a IV/119. This performance was part of a concert hosted by the local AGO chapters in observance of the International Year of the Organ: PipeSpectacular IX
