  • can i send you a drawing and have to bend the box and weld it up for me??

  • @MotorsportsX Would be happy to do that. I am based in the UK so it would probably only work if you are UK based too ?

  • is the only way to tack weld aluminum with filler, since I try to do it without filler and both pieces of aluminum melt away from each other

  • @GameFishermen It is possible depending on the type of joint, external corners like this tend to be OK, butt joints you are going to struggle. I always use filler though.

  • im a skilled welder and i am having a little problem with tig do u have any tips for me

  • @MrSvingy I don't consider myself a skilled welder but I have had a lot of practice with ali tig (I've only ever had a weeks training in welding) :) My advice is patience, you have to be prepared to wait for the weld pool to develop in both parts before you introduce the filler, if you rush it then it won't work.

  • that pieced needs a backing and then you can add more heat getting 100% penetration and zero distortion

  • @GameFishermen then keep practicing...i never had a problem..although it is hard depending on piece...its all in the delivery...hit it fast and hard with lots of heat....super fast and it works just fine

  • @TransAmDrifter cheers - will try that with the next bit of ali... :)

  • @daemonuk try using quite big gas nozzle and don't stick the electrode out of it more than a half of its thickness. Also wind up Your AC frequency. It keeps the arc considerably stable. It won't be as stable as when DC welding using a sharp tungsten, but once it grabs it won't bounce around.

  • @Ventilatorzzz green is good for Alu alloys, while red and grey are good for steel alloys... oh... I forgot to add they work fine for me. Gas choice is also a good thing. Alu goes fine with 100% Ar and Ar with He mixtures or pure He. Stainless goes fine using Ar + 2%H (not He). Don't try using any Hydrogen mixtures with Aluminum. Try using biggest gas nozzles possible to avoid oxidation and overheat.

  • @Lockbar I say so too, and I'm also at 30 years welding...this guy is good there with free-handing the torch..

  • ..Gentle persuasion, of course, and then surely you have the #10 hammer for serious 'disturbing'.. ?

  • @Dynarobin ...aluminum pretty much always requires filler...

  • Nice demo.

  • @Dynarobin

what kind of electrode you use in this video ?

2% lanthanated or pure tungsten electrode ?

i'm a welder too, i prefer 2% thoriated electrode welding both aluminium and stainless steel.
