very practical kind of martial arts in modern application. a knife is a portable weapon and a stick is mostly readily available. in our time nobody carries a big sword or long stick to be ready to fight or defend oneself on the street. fma is the most effective martial arts whether with one or multiple opponents. no need for fancy movements or acrobatic sommersaults.
