Ever have a FD, EMS, LEO, or maybe even a volunteer firefighter in his/her private vehicle go racing past you, only to turn off their lights and sirens shortly thereafter? They weren't out playing, they were responding to a call, only to be disregarded. Here's a video showing Unit 502's response to a fire alarm call...

  • dont you hate pulling up to a intersection with lights and sirens going and then getting cancelled, and then the people are like what are they doing, hate that

  • Yep, I know the guy in the truck that I just passed thought that I must've been an idiot.

  • Why siren when there is no traffic? You're just annoying people in their homes.

Nice smooth safe driving and steady camera mount.

BTW, Wail is perceived further ahead than Yelp. It is a better signal and does not panic drivers.

  • Thanks for the comments. Siren was used for safety/legal reasons (wouldn't want someone pulling out of a private drive, then claiming "he didn't have his siren on").

The siren only has yelp, would love to have wail, but can't complain for > $25.

  • I really can't believe your dispatcher can just cancel because of the word of the alarm co. I'm a dispatcher and we always have to ask an officer with the first in dept what they advise on response for a possible false alarm

  • @fdstation223 Owner was on scene and had accidentally set off the alarm.

  • Complete and total disregard for what? Show me one instance where I endangered ANYONE or where I drove in an unprofessional manner.

Maybe you missed the point about it being an alarm at a commercial structure and how I'm a chief responding to the scene?

Sorry, you must be a paid guy, and if so, you are PATHETIC. The difference between volunteers and paid departments: we don't hit our own apparatus!

  • UNDERSTAND that these people are responding to an EMERGENCY. They are given the PERMISSION to go FLYING up and down roads with their lights on and sirens blaring. THEY ARE NOT RISKING PEOPLE BECAUSE THE LAW CLEARLY STATES that they are aloud to drive like this in an emergency. Take note, that these men are DOING IT for FREE OUT OF THEIR OWN TIME and they are RISKING THEIR OWN LIVES just to do this. You, are PATHETIC.
