cont. and beyond your control you don't start out saying or planning it it just happens I'm a nurse and I know better you just make excuses for yourself if I could get a doctor to give me what I wanted what do you think Elvis got out of his own personal physician. I can just imagine something to wake up something for pain that might be phantom pain but your brain wants more sleeping pills after awhile you have to increase the dose to achieve the same effect Elvis died from respiratory failure c

@TheOldiesJukeBox First off Elvis apparently studied everyday since he met Ed Parker in '60 so that's 17 years - He was introduced to Rhee in '70 and by '73 Rhee promoted him to a higher rank that Rhee! - Come on - only higher ranks can make a high rank! And to go from zero to 7th in 3 years? NOBODY can do that. And by the way in Ed Parker's Kenpo you get graded all the way to 7th dan - the rest are honourary and awarded for time served - and the skill level is exceptional not the level of Elvis

@mortaliumanimos God may well be his judge in so far as his character goes - a post up here means Elvis gets judges on his Martial Art abilities and as an apparent 7th/8th dan and based on the evidence - he been found wanting. - As for your 'could have happened to anybody' comment - No, not really - drugs and self indulgence got him there - he knew that himself - and get your facts right - he's been judged based on his lack of skill in Martial Arts not as a performer ok?

@mortaliumanimos Well basically you're wrong - Rhee admitted that he gave Elvis a 7th degree - which is kind of funny as he was only a 6th at the time - check his own website - As for his Kenpo Blackbelts well I found an auction site where they are selling Elvis's Blue Belt cert- well below Black in '74 yet earlier that year I note Elvis & Parker are photoed together with Elvis in a 7th dan and Parker in an 8th dan belt - Parker is also the one that signed off on the Blue cert - he was no 8th

@TheOldiesJukeBox There's a LOT to post; if you're truly interested in finding out the TRUTH, and not just haggling here, you can message omurchu12 privately and he can send you the links, no prob. There's some very interesting information that we dug up. If you look up 'Elvis New Gladiators' on here (averyshakyproduction is the channel) and look and listen, you'll see why we're dismayed that THIS was the footage that Elvis insisted on filming. HE's proving my argument all by himself, sadly.

@TheOldiesJukeBox Bill did NOT 'criticise' Elvis' skills; but you do have to remember that his friends were protecting the reputation of a legend in the making at the time this was filmed, and for many years after. In Kenpo karate the ranking system requires a certain number of time between each rank; Elvis had not been at KENPO long enough to attain each rank from 1st-Dan. Again, if you look at the certificates, they are marked 'HONORARY'. He did NOT test for them. It's that simple. AWARDED.

@TheOldiesJukeBox I've actually often cited his bad toe as a reason for his poor performance; don't misunderstand. A lot of this started because a friend wanted to develop a new documentary about Elvis's Kenpo studies but couldn't find good footage. Then other things started coming to light about the authenticity of Elvis' ranks. Ranks should be TESTED for, NOT 'awarded'. Those of us who have been students & instructors feel it's unfair. He should have waited to film this; now it's a mockery.

@mortaliumanimos You'll be interested to know that omurchu12 was just at a seminar with Bill Wallace and got to talk directly to him about Elvis; I'm sure he'll post a response. He also studies Kenpo Karate, just like Elvis did, & is well familiar with their grading system. This IS supposed to be a demo showing full-contact skills: The footage was for a movie, which was never finished but WAS released. For the record, we're both fans of Elvis' music, but sadly, not his MA skills. Sorry.
