its as simple as the bell curve...with salary cap or without salary cap there will be some teams ahead of the curve (yanks, sox, lakers, celts, Steelers,Patriots, colts) teams in the middle of the curve (Tigers, Twins, Pistions, nuggets, Rockets, Ravens, Chargers, Seahawks,) teams behind the curve (Pirates, Reds, Royals, Browns, Lions, Raiders, Clippers, Warriors, Bobcats) money has shit to do with it...its 100% owner ship!

so continous years of sucking means money has killed a sport...then its safe to say NFL and NBA are ruined too. When have the Browns, Lions, 49ers, Clippers, Bucks, Warriors, Bullets(before the change) been successful. all of these franchises have been terrible for years just like the Pirates. The Pirates have traded 8 position all-stars since 2006 before they were making dollars for the reason of "cutting payroll." Explain how the Rays are now competeing in the East if it cant be done?

They're in the spot light, but they shouldn't forget who the most powerful guy on stage is. Letterman makes more a year than the three of them combined, as far as contracts go, but that doesn't include Letterman's other projects either.

going into 2010, i'd still rather be the phillies than the yankees. yanks have like 3 players in their starting lineup over 35. they were the best in '09 but they're not repeating. i'm happy for jeter, though, he had an unbelievable season.

That, and the reply to the engagement question.
