"Tom Kramer directing." Holy shit this brings back memories. I was one of those 11 percussionists, under the expert tutelage of Rick "Chuck" Norris. :) Don't know who you are, dx956, but thanks for posting this.
ps - pause @9:36 - I'm the 4th person to the left, as you're looking at the snare line, on the tri-toms.

wow they had 18 guard members in 1988, we still only have like 20 today. thats depressing. lol. i also like how weapon used to be used on the field so far we havent used it in a long time. still really cool tho to see a older show and to see how much different marching band is today

In 1988, a rifle line was introduced to the colorguard. You had to be a junior or senior to tryout for the rifles. The rifles are used in the opening song. They are on the 35 yard line (right side). Also, winterguard was around in the late 1980s.

Here are some stats from 1988: The City of Coppell had a population of 15,000+. The school district recently moved up to 3A. There were 500 students in the high school (9-12). There were 107 band members including the Lariettes (Drum Majors-2, Drumline-11, Brass/Woodwinds-42, Pit-4, Colorguard-18 and 30 Lariettes). This was the first year the Lariettes marched with the band.
