Westminster College Assistant Professor of Education Patrick Krantz will tell you he spent three years, six months, two weeks and six days on kidney dialysis. All that time he eagerly awaited a transplant. Earlier this summer it happened thanks to a coworker. Joyce Hoellein also works as a faculty member in the Education Department and volunteered to be a donor for Krantz.
Unfortunately she wasn't a match, but that didn't stop her from helping. She agreed to participate in a living organ donor swap through the Akron City Hospital in Ohio. By switching donors, Krantz was able to receive a life saving transplant as was a complete stranger. Krantz and Hoellein talk with The County Line's Jill Carle to recount their story of hope and friendship.
