Charted at #20 on Billboard Hot 100 in November 1955. Certainly one of the most beautiful songs of 1955, or of any time. Also #7 for the Dream Weavers (#1 UK) who originally recorded it, #14 for Jo Stafford and #20 for Snooky Lanson all during the same month. Later, it charted at #12 in the UK for Mark Wynter in November 1963 and #93 on the Hot 100 for Jimmy Velvet in May 1965 (#29 Adult Contemporary).

Original Billboard review: "The beautiful ballad is awarded a deservingly apt reading by the ork, with the choral work warm and sensitive. This side can gain heavy spin attention, and it can build into a strong sales item. Bears watching." Billboard rating: 82 out of 100.

Vocal by the Jack Halloran Singers.

Written by Gene Adkinson & Wade Buff.

B-side is "You Are Mine".

  • @lateforbreakfast Definitely, it's a haunting song. It's a shame that it's not well-known anymore.
