A home viewer has the audacity to accuse the show of being dishonest citing that certain panelists have notes in front of them. Arlene isn't amused and explains the purpose of the notepads, but Soupy finds the chance to try make the bit humorous.

  • That's our Arlene. Kicking ass and taking names. LOL. She was much more polite about it than I would have been...

  • @spagandtuna I watched many clips of wml. I notice dorothy had a tough time hearing the guest voice but so did other panelist like bennett cerf who usually sat in the chair closest to the guest while dorothy sat in the futherest chair from the guest. The real problem was that the sound system in the theather wasn't very good. I like people on tv who have substance not just a pretty face even if they are a airhead or by the way what show are you on?

  • Dorothy most ALWAYS took notes. So What!

  • @calalilygirl another problem when the show went into syndication, was that previously it was only once a week, in syndication it was airing 5 days a week meaning they needed 5 times as many mystery guests.

  • Those two did the show justice. They were very effective and I did like them.

  • @calalilygirl The show was also at a disadvantage in that Bob Bach was unable to secure top quality mystery guests because syndicated was a step down then PLUS there had been a mass exodus from New York to LA of top flight entertainment excepting B'way. Larry and Wally were not John Charles sure, but they were both excellent in their own ways.

  • @spagandtuna I have to disagree. That show did lose something after she died and was no longer on. The combo of Arlene and Dorothy on that show was Magic--TOPS! Call it great chemistry or whatever you want, but it worked! The show remained watchable but not the same high caliber show it once had been.

  • Another time, a viewer letter was sent in and read suggesting Arlene pull her blindfold down completely over her eyes so she could not peek through the bottom. Arlene gave the same sort of answer. Through gritted teeth, she addressed the viewer by name. She said, paraphrasing that they have too much respect for the show and the viewers to cheat. She said everyone on the panel has earned the trust of the fans and, no, she cannot see out of the bottom of her blindfold. Cerf said "here here".

  • I love love LOVE Arlene but I have to play devil's advocate here, didn't she admit to peaking at times?

  • @auntbecky I have every right you old crusty dried out school marm. Jump into your ditch already you piece of petrified wood!

  • @auntbecky The fact that you don't care if Mr. S&T likes Arlene or not just shows how rune and uncaring YOU are. That person has the right to his or her views and I don't care what you think. Now go take an ex-lax ya old spinster!

  • @spagandtuna i dont care if you like her or not. personally, i didnt. That does not give you the right to be rude and nasty.
