Containing sulfate (SO4 2-) does not suggest a relation to sulfiric acid (H2SO4). Sulfiric acid is bad because it is an acid, not because it contains sulfate. When introduced to water, it breaks up into positive hydrogen ions and sulfates. The hydrogen ions then are responsible for eating through your tissues, NOT the sulfate.
Please do not make "common sense" jumps from one thing to another. The only valid reason to content that this compound is bad would be solid, scientific evidence.

It is a surfactant has the Na+ ion and the sulfur atom ATTACHED to a chain of 12 carbons (thus dodecyl). it uses the electronegativity of sulfur and the hydrophobicity of the carbon to create micelles (nano-sized spheres) which trap polar residues on the skin. it rarely interacts with anything beyond your skin this is pure thrash
this stuff is in cetaphil .....which claims to be non comedogenic???? wht is that about

yes, it is very common. You would be surprised, a lot of hypoallergenic products have it in there as well. As well as baby shampoos and etc.
It is not necessarily that all these people have sensitive skin, it is just too much for the body to handle

I would check the back of the bottle and look over the ingredients, Sulfur is good for your scalp. There are lot of natural things that have sulfur in them as well. Cucumbers have sulfur. Fresh Aloe has a lot of sulfur! When you break a piece off you can see the yellow develop at that opened area =o)
