You're not even trying now. Buying and selling goes on even in North Korea. The difference with capitalism is that for the first time in human history, the profit motive and investment in, well, capital, become the engine of economic growth. This first started in Britain and America until it eventually spread across the entire western world. Hence the Dark Ages no longer exist

Yes it was. During the dark ages, technological growth was non-existent. Capitalism changed all that. Ergo, the Dark Ages was called so because capitalism did not exist. If that's false, then I was lied to by my left wing professor in my "Philosophy of Economics" class.

If you want to grow more trees, start planting! Moreover, growing trees is now what environmentalists ahve in mind, Cap-and-trade, carbon taxes, or worse, is what they have in mind.Also, countries with advanced economies that consume lots of oil and coal have cleaner environments and healthier citizens. Like poverty, true pollution only exists in non-industrialized countries
