  • Bach's work may have been equalled by Mozart perhaps, but certainly he is unsurpassed.

  • Wie wunderbar sind doch diese Aufnahmen aus Richters Zeiten! - Ich liebe sie! :-)

  • @earlyspring3177 it might also be the interpretation. I noticed the majority of the notes are played in a more legato style than baroque music is usually played in. I also noticed some interesting use of dynamics that typically aren't part of the piece are present. Regardless, they're effective, and the added legato does add a little grandeur to the piece, though it's actually against the style of the era.

  • musica immortale.bach.il gigante .

  • @myroseaccount i think bach has more consistance than mozart, know what i mean?

  • I played viola for about ten years before an injury forced me to stop playing. My most treasured musical memory, by far, is performing this work and reaching the point at 4:30 when the rest of the ensemble drops away and the violas have their wonderful acrobatic solo. Even now it makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! The only thing more wonderful than listening to Brandenburg 3 is experiencing its architecture from the inside, as a player.

  • Where is that place???

  • Just wonderful. Beautiful setting, excellent musicians, and of course, Bach. Thank you for uploading this marvelous video. I enjoyed it so very much.

  • Magnificent performance!

Thank you for sharing this gem.

  • What's the name of the woman in the harpsichord? sorry for my english

  • This hot stuff.

  • The piece sounds quite different when played by orchestra than by a smaller ensemble. When 7 or 8 play B3 has a classicalized country dance feel whereas here it sounds like a Gluck style overture. Part of this is surely Richter's doing but the contrast is interesting. The small ensemble may be more authentic but the large one is more impressive.
