16 Police Agencies used tear gas, concussion bombs, direct sound weapons, and rubber bullets to break up peaceful protestors who are participating in a classic "sit in" protest. - Last I heard at 3AM almost 24 hours after it began, protestors are again occupying the location. 2nd complete display of abuse of force in less than 24 hours.

We paid for the following agencies which attacked Occupy Oakland all of which claim to have a budget crisis: 1. Oakland PD, 2 Alameda Sheriff, 3. Berkeley PD 4. University of California PD 5. Hayward PD, 6. Fremont PD., 7. San Leandro PD., 8. Pleasanton PD, 9. Emeryville PD., 10. Newark PD., 11. Solano Cty-Vacaville police, 12. Alameda PD 13. Cal Highway Patrol 14. Santa Clara Sheriffs 15. San Francisco Sheriffs 16. San Jose Police

Message to mayors, city councils, police chiefs and street cops of America: it is NOT UP TO YOU whether or not Americans get to peacably gather, protest, discuss, play music, use megaphones, or wear masks. It's up to a document, ratified 224 years ago, called the US CONSTITUTION. This is really not a difficult concept, so please get it together, stat.

Sincerely the People United.

P.S. If you or anyone you know has been hit by tear gas, please tell them to strip and wash outside of their home. There has been known long term health effects caused by tear gas dust being trapped in homes after the WTO/Seattle protests.

  • To think these protesters are the same people who elected the president who gave the money to the company's they are protesting

  • @MsVbender - I voted for Ron Paul :)

  • "Illegal assembly" "announced that this was an illegal assembly" "decided it was an illegal assembly"

Ok, we get it that somebody, somewhere has decided this was an illegal assembly, but WHY? Nobody ever tells us WHAT exactly makes it an illegal assembly, just that it is.

Instead of citing what they were doing wrong, and giving them a chance to correct it, they just get gassed instead. Wtf?

  • @FlipLogic - gassed, shot at, and attacked with high tech weaponry like sound cannons, flash bombs, and they even have a tank.... The cops gave them 5 minutes to leave! Even though they were not doing anything illegal. Now there is an injured soldier, veteran of the IRAQ war who is in critical condition fighting for his life...

To serve and protect??? who? not the public... not the people... not the rights... not the law.. Just corporate interests, and those who buy them the tank...

  • @2eelShmeal You're right, the elite see the rest of us as trash, that don't have rights.

  • @theblackpacket Yes, that's what it looks like. It is as though they are treating American citizens like terrorist! It's truly sickening!

  • I'm sure there were probably some trouble-makers that joined the protest as an excuse to cause trouble; however, it seems as though the police are overreacting. They are turning it into a bigger problem than it would have been, it seems. Although, I'm only seeing a few choice minutes that the news covered here.

It is sad that trouble-makers joined the peaceful protest and contributed to creating a war with the police. I wonder if some of the trouble-makers even started looting.

  • @shmoopify Ok. Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate your pov and I think (obviously) this country is headed towards increasing chaos and the more dialogue we have the better. It beats violence, but unfortunately that's what's going to happen.

I do sympathize with your position. It's not an easy spot you're in, it sounds like you are a bit torn, understandably. I just wouldn't want to be you after the next election sadly, it's going to get ugly. The system gives us no choice but violence

  • @2eelShmeal - I was there at the protests. I saw how these "peaceful protesters" turned into regular street thugs. (NOT MOST, but many) And dont tell me that "i dont know im one of you".......I am a police officer and my wife is a elem school teacher. We both set goals as young adults and reached them. EVEN STILL, we r looking at losing our house due to the banks raping our country! So i know what its all about! But i also know the way they were protesting was wrong!

  • @2eelShmeal - What are you rambling about? There is no law that prevents people from PEACEFULLY marching. Its only criminal when they refuse to disperse after having been given a LAWFUL order to do so. SJPD is cutting because of HORRIBLE money management done by its city council!!! The money to pay SJPD wages ,benefits and retirements was set aside years ago and there was plenty of it to handle things. The city "leaders" over the years blew that $ on ridiculous projects.

  • @MsVbender You know what? I say that's good. It's a good eye opening lesson to learn when the party you defended betrays you. I learned not to defend either party.

Maybe it'll make those formerly idealistic young people wake up and see that Obama's entire cabinet is made up of Wall Street Execs

Not only that, but they need to learn that when the Republicans fuck up, the answer is NOT the democrats. AND VICE VERSA.

Investigate the false left right paradigm. They're playing us like a fiddle.

  • @shmoopify So anything that happens is justified? Come now, you don't mean to insinuate that do you? And what law? A law that prevents people from marching on the very streets of their own community? And that's CRIMINAL? Come now, you know better. Jaywalking is a crime. Is a jaywalker a criminal? Ease up.

The irony is, like I posted on your video, that you are one of us but haven't realized it yet. The reason SJPD is cutting is because of DEBT. THAT's what these 'criminals' are protesting.
