  • you can't imagine how boring and useless is the commentary for such a beautiful technique, the french really have the art of screwing the whole sense up, with pseudo intellectual meanings.

  • @kototamabushi Look for Sugawara Tetsutaka Sensei. Not the other Sugawara Sensei. :)

The form (kata) is just beautiful and has meaning. His Kaeshi Waza is Tai Chi style too. Smooth and continuous. You may not see the subtilities of the "push hands" video (Taichi Tui shou). But this is what will develop the sensitivity to Ki, because here you have to find flaws in your opponent softness using yourself softness. The less soft guy will the hard one.

  • @KelGhu, I did'nt know about Aikido-Thaichi, thanks for the advice, very interesting!! (youtube.com/watch?v=DTRJ0HeQkcs) I've seen in that video quite a lot of Aikido techniques in slow motion and beautifully executed!

  • @kototamabushi Oh yeah, right. The sword... Nice tradition. I like it.

Tai Chi lacks the practical side of Aikido. And that's bad too in my opinion.

My favorite Aikido Master, besides O'Sensei, is Sugawara Sensei. Fusion of Aikido and Taichi. His Aikido Taichi form is beautiful. And the Kaeshi Waza is very nice too. He has taichi push hands in his system too. You can check that on youtube. I am frustrated not to be able to follow his teaching! ;)

  • @KelGhu Thanks for yor reply, I appreciate your words, that make sense but the idea to keep the grab came frome the ancient need of prevent tori to get out the sword. More, in some technique if uke releases tori hand he get easely a slap in the face. Anyway in my dojo and my federation we use more kinonagare (for higher kyu and dan) that mean much less contact.

  • @kototamabushi Every True Martial Art has those kind of philosophy. It's the teacher that can be bad. I can tell you as a Tai Chi teacher, I am the fastest runner! :)

But I am talking about practices here. Grabs lessen your initiative. Ki goes where the Intention goes. If you rely on people grabing you, the instant they release you, you will feel disconnected for a second. And unless their are stupid, most people will release you before they get in a bad posture.

  • All I am saying is Aikido relies too much on grabs during practice. O'Sensei had so much internal power he needed only to barely touch his opponent to make him fly. I've seen this kind of internal power much more in Tai Chi than in Aikido. As of Yin and Yang, you're talking about physical movements. Internal Yin Yang is characterized by physical stillness as you absorb physical power and release it through the soft tissues making people unnaturally fly. O'Sensei learnt that in China and was good

  • @kototamabushi I used the word "loser" to emphasize the fact that the "receiver" has often no grounding whatsoever, he is already in a bad posture. What I am saying is, at a certain point, one should practice with an opponent who is not willing fall. It is is more subtle to feel open doors when your partner tries not to fall in the trap. That's what we do in Tai Chi with Push hands. Both are givers and receivers, and it's still soft like Aikido is.

  • @KelGhu , After all, if I'll bee in trouble in the street, the first action is try to avoid conflit, the second is running away and the third and last is defence! I'll shurely not waiting for an aggressor to grab my arm... Have a nice day

p.s. I love Taichi too, is a great way to know themself.

  • @KelGhu , Maybe 3 years of studying Aikido are not enough to get the spirit... There is not a loser role in Aikido and there is not a winner role! Aikido is an "inoffensive" interaction of two or more people that assume alternatively the "give" or "receive" role, as said from O Sensei thad spend half of his life to lern to kill and the other half to teach to not harm anybody! Aikido is not a street fight, Aikido is a philosophy of life, a way to love everybody.
