A splendid Poppea in the person of soprano Sunhae Im! Her liquid timbre and precision of gesture are ideally suited to the aria 'Bella pur nel mio diletto' (Act II, scene 6): How beautiful it would be To find my beloved innocent!
I love her, but she's totally miscast as Poppea. Her pure, innocent voice is just simply not meant for Poppea, who is neither pure nor innocent. I can see her as Susanna or Pamina, but no, her Poppea will be eaten up alive the moment she walks on stage, by Pendatchanska's fiery Agrippina as an appetizer. The entire lyric theatre world is teeming with fuller voiced, feisty light lyric sopranos, so why her?

Splendid? she sounds like a cat, her voice is too thin and lackluster, try better sopranos next time.
