Midge Ure seems like Kevin Costner. When I was 13, this song played here in Brazil, and I loved its.

phil is the best with his breaks, drums fills and feeling
-
man, he can sing. Probably one of the best singers ever. Him and Roger Hodgson. Top class.

Im too young to appreciate the talent of Japan and Nick Karn, but the sound of midge ure lives on. hearing all these appearances of doing good causes i love Mick.RIP.

@billyconnearly Yes he is definitely one hell of a nice guy...I was at their 25th anniversary tour with big country in cologne back in 2007....he actually gave me one drum stick from the concert....its hanging in a frame now above my drumkit...love this guy....

Great song. Great sentiment. Why try and get "Vienna" to number 1 when this masterpiece is deserved of global No.1 status - especially with Mick in one of his typically brilliant yet understated perfromances. Oh, I could cry....

@rogermelly44 Indeed RIP Mick. A great loss to the community

@Chris51 And would say that, in 'musical terms', you know there is a difference between a mistake, and overplaying or playing out of context ;-) Google 'Drummer jokes' or the legendary 'Steely Dan things not to say in the studio' and you will see what I mean.
- Peace :-)

@Chris51 He made the drums far more prominent at every available opportunity, with fills that did not fit the song (in my view), starting at 1:01. It has nothing to do with liking Phil Collin's music. As a musician, I have played bass for over 35 years, including countless hours in studio, and have an aversion to the oft natural inclinations of rythym sections to overplay. If you remember this timeframe, Phil was a superstar (the only one to play at 2 Live Aid events). He wanted that shown.

@trinzeon - I actually thought Collins didn't make a mistake and played as well as any of the other musos. Perhaps you can enlighten us as to how he ruined it. Please explain in musical terms so we can understand that your criticism is based on an understanding of technique and ability as opposed to the fact that you simply don't like his music.
It is indeed the amazing Mick Karn on bass. Mick discusses being asked by Ure to play at this concert in his fascinating autobiography 'Japan & Self Existence' which is a must read for any Japan fan. Sadly Mick is fighting with serious illness at the moment.....I wish him strenght in this difficult time.
